300,000 PEOPLE. THE LARGEST MLK MARCH IN THE WORLD.
AND THE ONLY DAY SAN ANTONIO SEES ITS BLACK COMMUNITY.
Let’s talk about the full story.
Yes, we celebrate the Martin Luther King Jr. March—founded by Reverend R.A. Callies. Yes, 300,000 people show up. Yes, it’s the largest in the world.
But this is also the same city where:
ICE runs rampant.
The Spurs arena is being moved out of the East Side—stripping the community of economic development, accelerating gentrification, raising taxes, and handing billionaires tax breaks.
The unhoused are pushed out from the very streets we march on.
San Antonio wants recognition for MLK Day. But honoring Dr. King one day a year while passing policies that harm Black and brown communities the other 364 days? That’s not legacy. That’s performance.
A lot of influencers came to capture the march. We’re here to give you the context.
Dr. King’s legacy should be celebrated in spirit AND action—every single day, not just when the cameras are rolling.
