We stayed right outside of Banff, in Kananaskis which offered affordable lodging. We ventured out to explore Kananaskis Village, hiked around Lake Louise, kayaked on Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, stopped at Natural Bridge, journeyed through Johnston Canyon to see the lower falls, and then we went all over downtown Banff including Central Park, Cascade of the Time Garden, Bear Street Tavern, and Banff Upper Hot Springs.
We started our days off with Tim Hortons for breakfast and were energized for our adventures. We paid for our Banff passes and arrived very early to get parking at Banff National Park.
We also explored Lac des Arches, Lake Minnewanka, cave and basin which is Canada's first national park, and an incredible lunch at The Balkan and delicious dessert at Cow's ice cream.
We spotted lots of wildlife while in Banff including bears and Banff mountain goats. We visited at the end of May, soon after the lakes melt from being frozen during the winter months.
