Family, we need to have a real, candid conversation about the reality of Black Americans returning to Africa. The dream of return is beautiful, but the ground-level experience can be complicated. Many of us are not connecting, often avoiding each other and defaulting to small, closed circles once we settle in places like Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, or Tanzania. Why are we bringing these habits and negative outlooks from the US with us? Is it history, trauma, or the illusion of difference? I'm diving deep into the reasons for this disconnect and challenging all of us to think seriously about how we can truly build a community here.
