Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala is home to one of the wildest food experiences you’ll ever try. Pizza Pacaya (@pizzapacayadavid on IG) makes your pizza using real volcanic heat. You can hike up, ride a horse, or take an ATV. If you’re walking, give yourself about three hours to reach the top. Each option has a different cost, so plan for that ahead of time.
You can book straight through them on Instagram or go with a separate tour company that includes transportation and the activity. Either way, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. There’s really nowhere else in the world where you can eat pizza cooked on a volcano.
Heads up: this isn’t available year-round. The best time to go is during Guatemala’s dry season, from November to April. That’s when the weather is more predictable and the trail conditions are better. Always double-check before you go.
