I left Nigeria at a young age and my grandma took care of me while my mom worked during that time. She carried me on her back, literally- and took me and my sister to school along with my aunt (whose kids rushed to me), and she is now the last living grandparent.
She has outlived everyone at a vibrant age of 87 (she prefers 85 though ๐ ) and I had to travel back home to see her. 20+ years away in the United States and she finally laid eyes on me for the first time since I left and it was very emotional. If you are waiting to go visit a loved one, please book that flight and just go- life is too short and they wonโt live forever. Just GO.
