Tensions are rising in the Caribbean. Venezuela’s Defence Minister has issued a chilling warning to Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana: if they allow U.S. forces to use their territories against Venezuela, they will face a forceful response.
At the same time, shocking reports claim the U.S. has identified a secret Maduro bunker buried deep beneath Simón Bolívar International Airport.
Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has brushed off Maduro’s threats, insisting the U.S. has never requested access to Trinidad. But she also accused Venezuela of stalling the repatriation of over 200 Venezuelan nationals linked to crime—while calling for stronger cooperation to stop drug trafficking, arms smuggling, and human trafficking across the Gulf of Paria.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Navy has escalated its counter-narcotics operations, striking suspected drug boats in the Caribbean. Persad-Bissessar says only “narco-enablers” oppose these missions, arguing that Trinidad’s economy has long been poisoned by drug money.
