In early February 2019, Godfrey Kiwanda, a Ugandan Junior Minister of Tourism, proposed a beauty pageant dubbed “Miss Cervy Uganda" to publicly showcase voluptuous Ugandan women as a means of attracting foreign tourists and generating more foreign currency earnings.
