The Trolls of Vík – Fascinating Icelandic Folklore
Icelandic folklore adds so much more mystique and intrigue to some of the famous places that people visit in the country.
I called this video “The Trolls of Vík” just because people have heard of that town nearby but the rock formations are known locally as Reynisdrangar.
Due to time constraints, I kept the story relatively short but one thing that is worth pointing out is that the trolls did not have good intentions for the ship they were trying to drag to shore.
As you travel around the country, you’ll see many rock formations that look like they have human features, such as a face and/or body. I’ve heard many Icelanders joke that those rock formations might have once been trolls.
I guarantee you’ll never look at these rock formations or others in Iceland the same again. 😂
