THE FUTURE OF BLACK TRAVEL
African Americans spent 63 billion dollars on travel in 2018 and I believe over the next 5 years we’re gonna double that. It just comes down to seeing it on social media -- seeing other black travelers making it happen -- and realizing you can do it too. I can say in all honesty that I’ve learned more by traveling than by going to college; there’s just no comparison. Travel reinforces the truth that beyond all our cultural differences, we’re still a big human community, more alike than we are different. All that needs to happen now is for travel media to catch up, to reflect that diversity we find when we travel. Instead of that token white guy traveling we always see; show us a Muslim lady chilling on a flight!
