The Black Indigenous Tribe Of Honduras - Garifuna

The Garifuna people of Honduras San Pedro Sula. The Garifuna people are a unique Afro Indigenous Caribbean community of African, Arawak, and Carib descent who live primarily in Honduras, but also in other Central American countries such as Belize, Guatemala, and Nicaragua. They have a rich cultural heritage that includes music, dance, and cuisine and are known for their distinctive drumming and complex rhythms. In Honduras, the Garifuna people are concentrated in the northern coastal region, particularly in the departments of Atlántida, Colón, and Gracias a Dios. They rely heavily on fishing and agriculture for their livelihoods, and many also work in tourism. Despite the challenges they face, the Garifuna people have a strong sense of community and are proud of their cultural heritage.
