We're living in the future! One of the recent technological changes is an electric bicycle also known as an e-bike.
Welcome back to my channel and today I will give you a review of my e-bike, a new means of commute that I believe will revolutionize personal travel in Africa.
An e-bike is a bicycle that uses a rechargeable battery for power. The question is, is it worth all the hype, especially for our fellow cyclists? The answer is a big resounding yes. And as an owner of one, trust me they are the future.
Facts About the bike.
Before I give you the benefits let me first give you a review of my e-bike. I bought it from a supermarket in Meru at 36k, which is a great price considering that I no longer use matatus or taxis unless I'm going out of the county.
It has a 250 watt battery that takes 3 hours to charge. On full charge the bike can go up to 30 kilometers without you pedaling. On assisted pedaling the range shoots to 60 kilometers which is awesome.
I go to work every day and my commute is around 16 kilometers and just not having to worry about matatu expenses and getting to work late has been a stress reliever. The bike has normal 20 inch rims which means maintenance is pretty easy once the tires start wearing off.
It has two powerful disk brakes for reliable and safe stopping. So how do you even ride this thing? It has a throttle which depending on how far you twist it, you can get varying speeds. The bike has a maximum speed of 40 km/hr. which is more than enough and safe on these crazy Kenyan roads.
On the other side there are two buttons, one for the lights and the other for the horn. Additionally the bike has two seats. A wide comfortable rider's seat and a back seat for an extra passenger or luggage. This one has really come in handy for me that I can tell you.
The bike is also equipped with shock absorbers for a smooth riding experience. If you want to park it is equipped with a foot stand. Uh what else? Oh the bike has footrests if pedals are no
