Did you know reggaeton got its roots in Panamá 🇵🇦 and later evolved.
I recently learned this myself. Growing up, I always associated it with Puerto Rico and never realized this history went back decades to Central America thanks to the West Indian migrants who went to Panamá to help build the canal.
They heavily influenced the culture and a few decades later, their Spanish speaking descendants created reggae en Español.
In Puerto Rico, they added their own flavor with the help of hip hop and now the island tends to get most of the recognition for reggaeton today while its roots and modern Panamanian artists are largely left in obscurity.
Because… well you know 👉🏿✋🏿
