Things to do & places to visit
📍 Visit the home of Freddie Mercury and take a stroll through old Stonetown, shop for Spices
📍Prison Island. Feed the Giant Turtles and see if you spot a dik-dik (mini antelope), admire the peacocks, and learn the fascinating history of an island that was never actually a prison
📍Head to Matemwe and go watch or swim with Dolphins on the reef off Mnemba Island
📍Head to Nungwi Beach and spend time chilling on the gorgeous beach where you can go horseback riding, sailing, snorkeling among other things
📍Visit Baraka Natural Aquarium & Zoo and go swimming with Turtles
Things to know
📌Get cash at ATM machines inside the airport or in Stonetown, there are others on the islands but they are not always as easy to find.
📌No ride share on the island, you can get around via private car transfer, taxis (make sure you negotiate price before getting in), bicycle rental and walking are also a great options.
Things to eat
📌Swahili cuisine is a fusion of African, Arab, and Indian flavors. Some of the must-try dishes include pilau rice, biryani, and samosas.
📌 Zanzibar is famous for its seafood. Some of the must-try seafood dishes include grilled lobsters, prawns, calamari, and fish curry.
