Popular places in Mexico that I do not love | Solo Travel Tips

So if you know me, you know how much I love Mexico🇲🇽
Anytime you talk to me about places for solo travel Mexico will always come up because it is an ideal destination.
But I there are places in Mexico that I do not love.
While I will admit that there are absolutely beautiful beaches in Cancun, Tulum and Playa del
Carmen, they are my least favorite destinations in all of Mexico.
Why?
Because IMHO they feel the least authentic to me when I visit. They are what I called “super tourist destinations” and that’s how they look and feel.
Where I go in Mexico when I want to be close to water in a bathing suit is:
📍 Mazatlan
📍 Puerta Vallarta
📍 Isla Mujeres
📍 Isla Holbox
📍 Bacalar
I’m not saying these places are not tourist destinations because they are but all IMHO have managed to retain some of their uniqueness and authenticity in a way that I don’t think Cancun, Tulum and Playa del Carmen have.
Bacalar isn’t a beach it’s a lake but for my money it’s one of the most beautiful places in Mexico. And it has not yet been ruined by what I call “over tourism.”
I have a list of new ones I want to explore in 2023 and I’ll share those as I visit them. ☀️👙🏝⛱
