Tours to Mya Bay Beach are currently closed. Mya Bay was made famous in 2020 because of the Hollywood motion picture The Beach starring Leonardo Dicaprio. Since then its shores have become overpopulated with thousands of tourists visiting its beach daily, causing serious damage to the Maya Bay coral reef. The Thai government has taken notice and in 2018 Mya Bay was closed for rehabilitation restoration. No official word when The Famous Bay will be reopened.
