Four hundred years ago,escaped slaves formed Palenque. Started by their leader Benkos Bioho. The community has its own language called Palenquero: Lengua is spanish -based creole language mixture of Kikongo,Congo,DRC and Angola
Today Colombian Town celebrates its African roots Batata dance from the Palenquera Women.
