The Caribbean and Latin America have long been declared a Zone of Peace — but new warnings suggest that promise is under serious threat.

In this ADNC report, Whitney Mckoy reports on how the Communist Party of Chile sounds the alarm over escalating U.S. military actions in regional waters, including deadly naval operations against small civilian vessels and the expanding blockade of Venezuelan oil tankers.

According to the party, more than 100 civilians have already lost their lives, raising urgent questions about accountability, sovereignty, and the growing militarization of the Caribbean Sea.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump is accused of using the so-called war on drugs as justification for lethal force — a pattern many across the Black and Caribbean diaspora recognize from decades of foreign intervention, economic warfare, and resource extraction.

The statement also warns that Mexico and Colombia have been named as possible future sites for U.S. military operations, fueling fears of a broader regional escalation.

For Caribbean nations, this is not abstract geopolitics.
It’s about fishermen, families, energy security, and whether the region’s waters remain ours — or become battlegrounds once again.
