La Gruta Hot Springs | Solo Travel Tips
San Miguel de Allende Mexico is one of the most beautiful and most magical places I’ve ever been. It’s the perfect place for solo travel for the Fly 40+ woman. I’m lucky to live there and one of my favorite things to do is to visit the La Gruta Hot Springs.
Just a 20 minute drive from the city center is La Gruta Hot Springs. There is the main pool and then there’s a grotto with an even hotter sauna pool. I prefer the main pool.
I recommend getting there early in the morning around 7:30 to 8 AM on Wednesday or Thursday when it’s less crowded. I like visiting when there’s still a chill in the air and then getting into the warm water for a good soak.
There’s also a really nice pool and a great restaurant and bar so it’s a wonderful outing that you can make a day out of if you so desire. I like to soak in the pool for an hour or so and then have breakfast. It’s also not very far from Santuario de Jesús de Nazareno (Sanctuary of Atonilco). You can do the Hot Springs for half the day and then visit the church and see it’s beautiful ceilings on your way back to town.
If you are visiting San Miguel you should definitely make the time to check out the hot springs there are at least three in the area but this one is my favorite.
