A Zen temple covered in gold leaf, reflected perfectly on a tranquil pond. Absolutely surreal in person.
2. Otagi Nenbutsu-ji Temple – 300 yen entry
A hidden gem in Arashiyama with over 1,200 quirky, moss-covered rakan statues — each with its own personality.
3. Arashiyama Bamboo Grove – Free
One of Kyoto’s most Instagram-worthy spots. Walking through these towering bamboo stalks is otherworldly.
4. Musoshin Ramen (Arashiyama) – Approx. 1,000–1,300 yen
My first bowl of ramen in Kyoto — rich, flavorful broth with perfectly cooked noodles.
5. Yakiniku Steak Experience (Wagyu) – Approx. 4,000–7,000 yen depending on cut
Tried Wagyu for the first time — buttery, melt-in-your-mouth beef grilled to perfection right at the table.
6. Tō-ji Temple – 500 yen entry
Home to Japan’s tallest wooden pagoda and one of Kyoto’s UNESCO World Heritage sites.
7. Higashiyama Jisho-ji (Ginkaku-ji / Silver Pavilion) – 500 yen entry
A peaceful temple surrounded by lush gardens and Zen sand designs — the perfect contrast to Kinkaku-ji.
8. Fushimi Inari Taisha – Free
Famous for its endless rows of red torii gates — a must-see and open 24/7.
