Sung Roh, 47, is a cobbler who specializes in upcycling sneakers. She launched her business Cobbler Bushwick Co. from her Brooklyn basement in late 2022, and now works from a combination cobbler-and-coffee shop called Cobbler Bushwick Roaster, which she co-opened in January with two business partners.

Roh charges $350 to $520 per pair, and her business brought in about $33,000 in gross revenue in 2024. It may not be lucrative — but money isn’t the point of her business, she says.
