I came to the Dominican Republic for a mission trip, expecting to give hope, joy, and encouragement to children living at the only children’s home in the Samaná province. But what I didn’t expect was how much they would change me.
For four days, our team of volunteers from across the U.S. lived, played, laughed, and prayed with the kids at Advocates of Love — the first and only children’s home in Samaná, founded by Mike Clark. From sunrise soccer games and late-night basketball battles, to a surprise Tiny Desk–style music performance, to sharing meals and stories together… these kids showed us what resilience, love, and family really mean.
In this documentary-style travel vlog, you’ll see:
✅ Exploring Santo Domingo (historic capital of the Dominican Republic)
✅ Life at Advocates of Love Children’s Home in Samaná
✅ Hiking to the breathtaking Salto El Limón Waterfall
✅ Visiting Las Terrenas Beach
✅ Early-morning bread with a local legend
✅ Playing sports, cooking breakfast, and creating music with the kids
✅ A powerful story of hope, joy, and family
The Dominican Republic is known for its beaches, rhythm, and culture — but this story goes deeper. It’s about kids who’ve overcome challenges most of us can’t imagine, and still choose joy every single day.
