DΓa de los Muertos | Remembering My Chow Chow Shadow π―οΈπΎ
What makes DΓa de los Muertos so special isnβt just the face painting or the parades β though Iβll be doing plenty of that this week when my guests arrive here in San Miguel de Allende.
For me, itβs about remembrance β honoring the people and companions whoβve left this world but never left my heart.
This week, Iβll speak the names of my loved ones whoβve passed: my mother Shirley, my nephew Dexter, my childhood best friend Yvette, and my dearest friend in adulthood, Dominique.
And today, October 27, we honor our pets β those loyal companions who gave us unconditional love. For me, thatβs Shadow, my chow chow who shared my life for 15 years.
Dominique used to tease me and call him a punk β calm in the house, wild in the yard β but he was everything a loyal dog should be. Saying goodbye was one of the hardest things Iβve ever done, but Iβm grateful I could be there when he left this world in peace.
As much as I adore my current little diva, Miss Ashton, Shadow will always be my number one. β€οΈπΎ
