There's 2 ways up:
- certified shuttle vans that pick up at Largo do Machado, Lido Square, and Barra da Tijuca.
- Corcovado train in Cosme Velho (most traditional and scenic route)
We took the train at Corcovado station, paid R $117 ($25usd) for a 20 minute scenic ride to the summit. You can also buy train tix online ahead of time https://www.tremdocorcovado.rio/
At the summit, take the stairs or elevator to Christ the Redeemer. Onsite is a small chapel, and a couple of souvenir shops and cafes.
TIPS:
- arrive early or just before sunset (and during low season) for smaller crowds.
- bring mosquito repellent. I was eaten alive at Corcovado station
- on the train, we recommend sitting on the right side going up, left side going down for best views.
