He was heading to L.A. to shoot a music video — but never made it past the gate without being stopped by DEA agents. Brian Moore, a disabled veteran from Georgia, says the feds seized the $8,500 in cash he legally carried through Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson airport, and left him humiliated and empty-handed.

And it’s not just happening to him. Across the country, other Black travelers say they’ve had their cash seized under a controversial program called “civil forfeiture,” often with no drugs, weapons, or illegal activity in sight.
