The United States has been celebrating their successful infiltration of Venezuela, and now they are looking to escalate their power trip in the Middle East! I am wondering if Africa is next after Marco Rubio threatened all former colonies with ''A NEW WAVE OF COLONIALISM'' ushered in by the United States.
At the Munich Security Conference, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a speech that should have sent shockwaves across Africa and the Global South. Praising Western “heritage” and downplaying the brutality of colonization is not harmless rhetoric — it is a signal. A signal that the ideology of dominance is being repackaged and rebranded for a new era.
For nations that were carved up, exploited, destabilized and stripped of resources under colonial rule, this kind of language is not abstract. It is dangerous. It speaks directly to sovereignty, to independence, and to whether former colonies will truly control their own futures — or once again be pressured into submission under the banner of “Western leadership.”
Any African leader who heard that speech and chose silence must answer a hard question: Who are you protecting — your people, or foreign interests?
History has already shown us what happens when domination is normalized. The real question now is who is paying attention — and who is pretending not to.
